Dear Friends,
Thank you for all of your support and efforts. Because of you, we ran a very strong, positive campaign built on grassroots efforts and common sense ideals.
Despite being outspent almost 2 to 1 and despite the concerted efforts of President-elect Obama's campaign, Governor Rendell and the State Democratic Party, we achieved over 49% of the vote.
We began this race with a commitment to reforming Harrisburg, fighting for our neighborhoods and promoting common sense ideas. My hope was that we could build a team of volunteers sharing that commitment--a team of not only local political leaders but citizens who might never have been involved in campaigns before. We achieved all of those goals.
We should take comfort because, together, we were able to accomplish a great deal. We ran successful events, raised some important issues and had some fun, too. And due to your help, I knocked on nearly 20,000 doors in the 157th district.
In future races, I can only hope that you will all join together as you did to help me in my candidacy, to rally behind a candidate who will show the same common sense goals and solutions to the problems that have plagued Harrisburg, Washington, and even in our local communities.
I am truly humbled by all of your support. On behalf of Brian McCarthy, my manager, Wendy DiRico, my Chairman, and Chris, Alex, Louis and Ana, I offer you our sincere thanks.
When the Ciarrocchi family sits down at dinner this Thanksgiving, we will give thanks for your friendship and support.
This chapter closes, but tomorrow we begin a new chapter built on our common goals.
Sincerely yours,
